How can I know God?

Have you ever asked yourself this question? He wants you to know Him and has revealed Himself so you can. His gift of eternal life is based on your personally knowing Him and He has revealed Himself to mankind in several ways.

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."      John 17:3

Jesus defines eternal life as a personal knowing of God the Father and Himself, Jesus Christ. This is one of many unique characteristics of the Christian Faith. It isn't what you do that saves you from sin and God's judgment but who you know and who you know changes your whole life forever.

Our purpose as a church is to introduce and promote a relationship between you and God that is established through a relationship of faith in God's Son.  So how has God revealed himself? This starts with the Bible that details how God has revealed Himself to us.

Through His Creation

"The heavens tell of the glory of God. The skies display His marvelous craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or a word; their voice is silent in the skies; yet their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to all the world..." Psalm 19:1-4

Through His people the Jews

“I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.” Exodus 6:7-9

Through Biblical Testimonies

“Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.” Luke 1:1-4

Through Moral Conscience.

"For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them..."  Romans 2:14-15

Through His Son Jesus

"If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him…He who has seen Me has seen the Father" John 14:7 & 9

"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son." Hebrews 1:1-2

Through personal illumination

“Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.’” Matthew 16:16-17

"For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthains 4:6

Furthermore, he reveals himself through those Christians whom you have met or know who have shared their personal experience and testimony with you.

Your Part

Desire to know Him

"I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me." Proverbs 8:17

"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

"Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God." Matthew 5:8

Believe Jesus removed the HINDRANCE

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."  2 Corinthians 5:21

Believe in God's love for you

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Act on your belief

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
